“Nor time nor space may separate the ties that bind our heart…” – Evelyn Hock Walter ’25
May this space forever honor Montclair State University’s proud graduates. We thank the many alumni and friends who have generously supported the Alumni Green.
Alumni Green is dedicated to the proud alumni at the heart of Montclair State University and stands as a tribute to their role in the history and the future of the University.
Originally established in 1996 as a gift of the Montclair State University Alumni Association funded in part by generous bequests and alumni donations, it occupied the space bounded by Sprague Library, College Hall and Morehead Hall. The location of Alumni Green holds significance, marking the actual and the symbolic heart of the campus.
The same shovel used to break ground for College Hall in 1907 was used to plant a tree in the Alumni Green dedication ceremony in 1996. Over the years, alumni have dedicated trees, benches, plaques and bricks honoring family, friends and classmates. Alumni designed the original plantings, which featured flowering trees, evergreens and flowerbeds with a red and white color theme.
